Gary Hoover is President of the Southern Economic Association, founding editor of the Journal of Economics, Race and Policy, and Executive Director of the Murphy Institute at Tulane University. His research focuses on the intersection of economics, race, and public policy with interests in policy analysis of income distribution/poverty, public finance and ethics in economics. He is a professor in the Department of Economics at Tulane University and since 2012 has been co-chair of the American Economics Association Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the economics profession.
